MISSION STATEMENT
CCRCA Rescue & Referral is dedicated to placing or assisting with the placement of any CCR in need of a home and to finding an appropriate, good home where the CCR will be lovingly cared for and appreciated and where the CCR will enjoy a quality of life befitting the breed.

PRIORITIES
Available Rescue CCRs will always take priority over Referral CCRs. Dogs that an owner or breeder has made available on a "free to a good home" basis are eligible for referral status. No CCRs whose owner or breeder is selling the dog or asking for payment, barter, or income of any kind will be eligible.

Rescue CCRs: dogs in immediate danger, dogs in shelters, displaced, abandoned or stray dogs, dogs in temporary foster homes, personal emergency situations, any dogs that cannot stay in their present homes, any dogs that are victims of inhumane treatment.

Referral CCRs: unwanted dogs living with their owners in non-emergency settings, dogs returned to their breeders, all other free of all charge dog referrals.

“Molly” (July 2008) is a small, spayed, black female in foster-care with curly owner Gail Barlow in Lakewood, CO. Molly, who weighs about 50 pounds, is very friendly with people and gets along with cats, dogs and kids. She is not a curly who can be crated but seems to do well when left loose in the house. Molly has an old fracture in her back knee which prevents her from using her leg much but she is able to run with Gail’s dogs. For more information on Molly contact Sheila Callahan-Young at 978-281-3860 or .

“ Addie ” (July 2008): FOSTER-CARE FOR 2-3 MONTHS beginning in September is needed for a 12 year old female curly. Addie’s owner Laura Lorenzen will be displaced for 2-3 months and needs a home for her Addie during that time. Laura lives in Silver Spring, MD and is anxious to find a place for Addie. If you can help, please contact Laura at 240-450-5643 (H), 202-545-2463 (W), or .

“Gordie” (June 2008): Gordie is an 8 year old, 65 pound, intact, black male. He lives with his family in the Philadelphia area but needs a new home in the next few months. Gordie’s family is moving into housing that does not allow large dogs. Gordie is healthy, gentle, shy with other dogs and good with children. He knows his basic commands and sleeps in an open crate. If you are interested in adopting Gordie, please contact Mary Malone at 215-641-2929 (office). All messages will receive a response.

“Safety” is an eight year old female who needs a new home due to the increased travel demands of her owners. Safety is a small, portly black female with a nice coat. He owners report that she has a wonderful temperament. She is calm and quiet, no jumping or licking. She will bark when someone knocks on the door and then runs wagging her tail to seen who it is. Safety is housebroken and crate trained. She ignores the cat and is very tolerant of young active children, including letting the four year old walk her on a leash. Safety’s drawbacks are that she will seal and chew small toys on occasion and she has some weakness in her back legs. She needs help getting into the station wagon and is not inclined to climb stairs. If possible, Safety’s family, who lives in Glenwood, Iowa, would like to personally meet prospective new owners. For more information contact Safety’s owner Kate at 712-527-4026 or

“Steven” is a 2 year old male living in Rhode Island. He is a breed champion with very high energy. He would make a good agility prospect. He loves people including children. Steven does not like other males. He is intact but sterile. For more information contact Delene at 401-934-1632 or cell 401-473-4476 or at .

“Hunter” is a 3 year old male living in Rhode Island. He is a big boy, 100lbs and 27inches. He is very sweet, loves people, but does not like other males or puppies. Hunter has a CGC (Canine Good Citizen Certificate) and knows basic obedience commands. He has also received training in tracking. For more information contact Delene 401-934-1632 or cell 401-473-4476 or at .
Found New Homes
Annie will stay in WA with Cindy Caldwell. She and Ross took in this rescue curly last August. Annie became very attached to Ross and has now transferred her devotion to Cindy. We thank Cindy for her kindness and generosity in caring for Annie and for providing her with a forever home.
“Adrienne” has found a new home in the DC area with a older male curly. We wish her and her new family all the best.

“Derby” has found a new home and we wish her and her new family all the best.

Please consider adopting one of the rescue or referral dogs who need your help and/or pass this information along to anyone who may be able to provide a good home. Many of our members have single dogs and we encourage you to think about adopting a second dog as companion to your lone curly. Two are often better (and easier) than one! Thank you.
